NC mourns loss of Chapter board member and Wilmington Cardiologist, Henry Patel, MD
Dr. Patel was a terrific colleague and physician. He was known as the “Ninja” in the Electrophysiology lab for his legendary ability to accomplish challenging cases. He was also a leader who served on the original Cape Fear Heart Council, which led to the creation of our practice. He has served as prior EP Lab Medical Director, Cardiology Division Chief and Chief of NHRMC Medical Staff. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Shital, who was clearly the center of his universe, and was a beloved son to his mother, Ba, who lived with his family. He was a father to two remarkable children, Drewv, a rising senior at UNC-Chapel Hill studying Biology, and Macy, a rising sophomore also at UNC-Chapel Hill studying Business.
Henry Patel of Cape Fear Heart in Wilmington served as an ACC Councilor several years ago and brought much enthusiasm and energy in that role. He was just starting another term as a councilor this spring and was to be reintroduced at our meeting in March.
Henry was memorable in many ways. Smart and cheerful and loved by his family, patients, colleagues and community.
