How to Join NCCACC

In order to join the North Carolina Chapter of the American College of Cardiology (NCCACC), you must be a member of the American College of Cardiology. Once you are elected to the College, simply indicate on your dues statement that $100 of your payment is for the North Carolina Chapter annual dues. Dues for Cardiovascular Team Members is $25 per year. Your membership will be automatically added to the NC Chapter. For information on becoming a member, click here.

Chapters provide ACC members with the opportunity to discuss local and regional concerns and participate at a leadership level in the resolution of issues that directly affect them. Participation in local chapters is the ladder to future participation and leadership opportunities at the national level. To become a chapter member, membership in ACC is required.

Nurtured by the College's team-based approach to cardiovascular care, Cardiovascular Team membership group has exceptional growth, reaching nearly 3,600 members since their inception in 2003. The CVTs are comprised of professional types including Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Registered Nurses, Clinical Pharmacists, and Physician Assistants. Since 2003, when this member group was formed, CVTs serve not only on their own Committee, but also, on over 30 standing ACC Committees, including, but not limited to: publications, continuing education, cardiac catheterization and intervention committee, accreditation steering committee, and the heart failure and transplant committee.

Associate American College of Cardiology (AACC) Membership

The Associate of the American College of Cardiology designation was developed to recognize those CVTs that have achieved national board certification in their area of expertise and have demonstrated their commitment to quality cardiovascular care through advanced training/education in cardiology. As a nurse, physician assistant or pharmacist member of the cardiac care team, you may be qualified to become an Associate of the American College of Cardiology (A.A.C.C.) based on the following criteria:

To advance to AACC you must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a current state licensure

  • Hold a nationally recognized Board certification**

  • Spend the majority of your professional time on the field of cardiology

  • Present two letters of recommendation

    • Letters must be from current FACC or AACC members of the College

    • Sponsors must be well-acquainted with the applicant’s current professional activities.

    • Relatives may not sponsor applicants

    • Letters must be original in content (no form letters)

  • Be employed in a practice that is primarily cardiovascular focused—at least 75%

  • Have been committed to CV practice for five years or more

Before you begin the online application, be sure you have the following ready:

  1. Two letters of sponsorship from current FACC or AACC members

  2. Proof of Board certification
