NC & SC Chapters ACC 30th Annual Conference Wrap up
The 30th Annual Joint Conference was held September 22-24 at the Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC.
350 attendees enjoyed a gorgeous weekend in the mountains and informative educational sessions on Coronary Artery Disease, the Cardiovascular Future, Cardiovascular Health Inequities, New Developments in Pacing and more. We were excited to have ACC's President, B. Hadley Wilson, MD, FACC as one of our featured speakers!
Friday afternoon sessions featured a CV Team Seminar coordinated by NC Chapter CVT Liaison Amy Winiger DNP, ACNP-BC, FACC and SC Chapter CVT Liaison, Jennifer M. Lee, MSN, FNP-C, AACC. Sessions included a panel discussion on Heart Failure, Congenital Heart Disease, Cardiogenic Shock and Initiation and Management of a Comprehensive Lipid Clinic.
This was followed by a Women in Cardiology seminar presented by Malissa Wood, MD, FACC, Immediate Past Chair of the ACC Board of Governors, on "The Pivotal Role of Women in Cardiovascular Leadership: Working Together We Can Advance Diversity".
In addition, an FIT Seminar was held on Friday afternoon with topics covering CV Writing, Financial Management and Choosing the Right Practice. FITs from both NC & SC programs were able to apply for scholarships to attend the conference with 34 fellows receiving scholarships to attend.
The always popular FIT Jeopardy concluded the annual conference on Sunday. Congratulations to the FIT team from Duke on winning!
