February is Heart Month
Every February since Lyndon Johnson proclaimed American Heart Month in 1963, there is an unique opportunity to shine a public spotlight on the impacts of cardiovascular disease and the importance of not only understanding the signs and symptoms, but also learning how to prevent heart disease. Watch this Heart Month video from ACC President Dipti Itchhaporia, MD, FACC, and follow @ACCinTouch on Twitter all month long as we take part in Heart Month at large, while also recognizing and sharing clinician and patient resources as part of Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Week (Feb. 7-14), Cardiac Rehab Awareness and Heart Failure Awareness weeks (Feb. 13-19), Heart Valve Disease Awareness Day (Feb. 22), HCM Awareness Day (Feb. 23) and Rare Disease Day (Feb. 28). This week, ACC members and leaders are encouraged to take part in National Wear Red Day on Friday, Feb. 4, by wearing red and sharing a photo on social media using #WearRedDay (Don’t forget to tag @ACCinTouch so we can re-tweet). Heart Month is also a great time to share CardioSmart healthy lifestyle tools (including infographics, action plans and more) with your patients and in practice and/or hospital communications.
